Course topics:

  • Concepts of risk and risk perception.
  • Social conflicts in situations involving risk.
  • Theories of organizational crisis.
  • Business continuity management.
  • Managing risk and crisis.
  • Risk and crisis communication.

Aims:

The students will understand selected concepts of risk, risk perception, risk and crisis management and risk and crisis communication. They will be able to evaluate and analyse practical business-related situations from a risk and crisis communication point of view:

  • what risks are to be managed
  • what factors affect risk perception
  • what communication approach could be used (planning messages for different audiences)

Due to the classroom work and presentation to be done, students’ communication and presentation skills are developed.
