The University of Szeged excels in several Hungarian and International rankings, which take several aspects into consideration.

In the newest HVG list, drawing on student performance and lecturer excellence, Szeged is the best university outside the capital, earning the third place with 10 points. It is only 1 point behind Corvinus University and Eötvös Loránd Univetrsity, both seated in Budapest.

The lists take several aspects into consideration. In HVG Diploma 2014, for instance, the number of first place candidates, the average points of the accepted full-time students, the rate of students with a language certification and with good results in high school competitions, and the number of lecturers with an academic degree were counted.
