Story of prezi: A Guest talk is hosted by Entrepreneur Club

Szeged, March 12th 2013: The Entrepreneur Club of Szeged, held a meeting where Peter Halácsy, the co-founder and CTO of Prezi.com was invited as chief guest. The meeting was precided at Szent-Albert Gyorgyi Agora hall with more than 200 people to witness the story of Prezi.

 

The ’Prezi.com’ is an online presentation software, which can create easy, simple, impressive and dynamic presentations for schools and work places. Prezi is a Hungarian software company, established in 2009 by co-founders Adam Somlai-Fischer, Peter Halacsy and Peter Arvai. It produces a cloud-based presentation software and storytelling tool for presenting ideas on a virtual canvas. The product employs a Zooming User Interface (ZUI), which allows users to zoom in and out of their presentation media, and allows users to display and navigate through information within a 2.5 D or parallax 3D space on the Z-axis. Prezi is a presentation tool that helps you organize and share your ideas by visualizing.

 

Currently, Perzi have more than 100 employees all over the world from South Korea to Mexico and also has branch offices in Budapest and San Francisco. It has around 20 million users worldwide with an estimated turn over of 100 million dollars.

 

In the first part of the presentation, Peter Halácsy described how they came out with the innovative idea of this ppt software solution. He told about the initiatives and strategies taken to increase their business. In his talk he shared that, at the lauching of Prezi.com their vision was to make the product internationally acceptable one and get the global market. They did not stop at little problems or faults, but they continued to work for it restlessly.

 

In the second part of the presenatation Mr. Peter explained about the team efforts and synergy brougt by it and how it helps in their work and product, to be accepted globally. The staffs of Perzi also organized for charitable campaigns and company has a good name for its CSR.

 

The corporate culture follows the example of the Netflix online media service,which involved the following:

Respect for human and professional values;

Outstanding performance evaluations of a meritocratic system (the position depends on the individual's performance, nothing else);

Freedom to associate and sense of responsibility;

No control, only the result counts;

In-house teams that are grouped by values, but are independent of each other;

Motivating salary;

Providing technical progress

Prezi is investing significant resources in supporting youth. In a project, ’the Bridge Budapest’ , Prezi is collaborating with two other Hungarian company’s LogMeIn and Ustream. The Bridge Budapest is a Hungarian project which gives an opportunity for youth to implement their ideas. A fully funded scholarship program is launched for students and journalists to gain a work experience in companies such as Facebook, Twitter or SoundCloud.
